Stacy Porter became an attorney in 2018 having graduated from Arizona Summit Law School in December 2017 and sitting for the February 2018 Arizona Bar Exam. I have worked exclusively in the practice of Family Law as an attorney for over 6 years, while working in the industry over 9 years. During my years of practice I have handled every aspect of litigation in domestic relation matters including divorce with or without minor children, legal separation, child custody, parenting time, spousal maintenance, property division, negotiations for settlement and much more. I strive to put myself in the shoes of my clients and listen to their needs and desires, while also setting real expectations of the possible outcome of their individual cases. I only have one simple requirement, I will always tell you the truth, so I expect my clients to be 100% honest about their situations. See, if I know the whole truth, then it is something that I can help defend against. Conversely, if my clients are not honest, then when the truth does come out (and lets face it, it always does), it could hurt your case, and I may not be able to fully and adequately defend against it. This is why I believe in full transparency. Since I believe in full transparency, you will also get full transparency reciprocated.
I was born and raised in a small little town in central North Carolina. Because of that, I am a huge March Madness guy, having grown up smack dab in the middle of the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (UNC) and Duke University A.C.C. rivalry. Prior to attending law school, I Honorably served in the United States Navy during Operation Enduring Freedom.
I moved to Arizona in 2005 and attended Northern Arizona University for my Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology. After NAU, I attended Arizona Summit Law School, graduating and passing the Arizona State Bar Exam on the first attempt. Thereafter, I obtained my AZ Law License in May of 2018. While in Law School, I was a Law Clerk for a boutique law firm in the Valley and after obtaining my license, I became an attorney for them for nearly three years. Afterwards, I went to another firm for about 2 years, before realizing that the typical approach to practicing law was not for me. Therefore, in June 2023, I started That Lawyer Guy so that I could practice law the way that I wanted to. My goal is, when your friends ask you for a family law attorney, you can say "Call my guy, 'That Lawyer Guy'. He's the one I trust."
When I am not working, I spend my free time with my family (my wife and four wonderful children), golfing, traveling, exploring the wonderful State of Arizona, playing video games and cheering for the Vegas Golden Knights. I have also started to dabble in the world of vlogging, and hope to have a successful YouTube Channel discussing legal topics in the future.
As your dedicated family law attorney, I am committed to providing you with top-tier legal support in divorce, child custody, and support cases. With extensive experience and a compassionate approach, I am here to steer you through the complex legal landscape, fiercely protecting your rights and interests.
